An immersive experience of encounters with nature guided by women from ancestral communities in Argentina
Ensueños (Musings) is a tribute to Nature created in collaboration with women from the ancestral communities that inhabit it. They invite us with heart and emotion to share their path of light and knowledge. An immersive visual and sound installation, documentaries and podcasts transmit the teachings of these people who live in Nature, who are an integral part of it, whose culture and education are based on respect and reciprocity with all forms of life.
From little girls to grandmothers, these Selknams, Mapuches, Huilliches, Diaguitas, Kollas and Fiscaras women. From the south to the north of the Andes, Ensueños They share their knowledge handed down from generation to generation (weaving, singing, basketry, cooking, medicine, etc.) and their struggles to preserve their territories and languages. The men complement this transmission.
Ensueños links communities in different provinces. Each area has its own story, its own people and its own flora and fauna.
The project is divided into 4 stages/seasons that invite us to observe and listen to the cyclical nature of life:
"The men and women of the communities taught me to walk. By the water, by the lakes. In the forests and mountains. To thank and express my gratitude to Mother Earth, the Pachamama, the Ñuke Mapu. Asking permission to enter a territory, to move around. Talking to the trees, the wind and the birds. To listen in silence. To hear languages that my heart understands beyond words.. "
Ensueños was initiated by French artist Séverine Fontaine, who has been working for several years on collaborations and cultural exchanges with Argentina. Following on from this experience, her encounter with ancestral communities has changed the way she looks at nature and her relationship with it. Over time, she has built up the project in dialogue with the people involved. It is divided into several complementary creative strands to share the cultural richness of the communities, territories and families as closely as possible:
